The JL Industries Cosmopolitan 1037F10 is a semi-recessed stainless steel fire extinguisher cabinet for a 10 lb extinguisher, made in the USA. The 304 #4 stainless door and trim are specified where a painted steel cabinet will not survive the environment: commercial kitchens, food processing, healthcare, laboratories, and anywhere the wall gets washed down with sanitisers. The tub recesses into the wall while the 3 in rolled trim projects from the wall face, staying within the ADA 4 in projection limit. The full-view clear acrylic door has a stainless continuous hinge that opens 180 degrees and a pull handle with roller catch.

Why stainless
Stainless is a durability and sanitation choice, not a decorative one. A powder-coated steel cabinet chips at the trim edge and corrodes where cleaning chemicals sit; 304 stainless takes repeated washdown without staining. Note the construction on this model: the door and trim you see and clean are 304 stainless, while the recessed tub behind the wall is white powder-coated steel. If the tub itself has to be stainless (fully exposed installs, or a surface-mount cabinet), that is a different model in the series and we can quote it from this page.
Extinguisher compatibility
Sized for 2.5 to 10 lb portable extinguishers. Fit is set by the extinguisher's cylinder diameter against this cabinet's 6 in interior (tub) depth, not by weight — a standard 10 lb dry-chemical unit fits, while a wide-body "short" 10 lb or a 20 lb unit is too deep and needs a larger cabinet. Confirm the cylinder diameter on your extinguisher's cut sheet against the tub depth above. See our Fire Extinguisher Cabinet Selection Guide for the full fit matrix.
Placement and mounting height follow the NFPA 10 requirements.
Model cross-reference
JL Industries builds this same 10-1/2 in × 24 in × 6 in tub in other Cosmopolitan stainless trims: 1034 (trimless), 1035 (flat), 1036 (1-1/2 in square), 1032 (4 in rolled with flush pull), 1038 (4-1/2 in rolled), plus the surface-mount 1033. The semi-recessed models all share this cabinet's 11-1/2 in × 25 in wall opening and hold the same 2.5 to 10 lb extinguishers, so this cabinet fits the existing opening when you are replacing one of them. Trim projection, door style, and glazing vary by model. For an exact trim or glazing match, or for the fire-rated version, request a quote from this page. The same tub in clear anodized aluminum is the Academy series (our Academy 1027F10), and in painted steel the Ambassador series (our Ambassador 1016V10).
