Halotron I is a clean agent extinguishing chemical that leaves no residue and conducts no electricity. It was developed as a replacement for Halon 1211, with far lower ozone depletion and global warming potential. Buckeye makes this 15.5 lb stored-pressure unit for facilities that need a single-unit answer for combustibles, flammable liquids, and live electrical equipment. Rated 2-A:10-B:C and manufactured in accordance with ANSI/UL 2129 and ANSI/UL 711.
Primary use cases are data centers, server rooms, telecom closets, laboratories, clean rooms, aircraft hangars, and any space where water, dry chemical, or foam would ruin the equipment you're trying to protect. Water shorts circuits. ABC powder leaves corrosive residue that destroys boards, drives, and precision hardware. Halotron discharges, does its job, and leaves nothing behind.
Portable Halotron extinguishers work alongside fixed clean-agent suppression systems governed by NFPA 2001. For IT equipment rooms specifically, see NFPA 75. Do not use in confined spaces smaller than 2,170 cubic feet per extinguisher. The concentrated agent can produce toxic byproducts when applied to fire; ventilate the area after discharge. NFPA 75 also covers firestopping the cable and conduit penetrations through the room's fire-rated walls, the passive side of the standard; see our data center firestop compliance guide.
Rugged steel cylinder with baked-on polyester epoxy finish. Rugged all-metal valve assembly. DOT and Transport Canada compliant. Operating temperature range of -40°F to +120°F. US Coast Guard approved for Type B:C Size II only when ordered with the Model 810 mounting bracket (P/N 700228), which ships separately.

Estimators usually price this unit against a spec paragraph written around a 15.5 lb, 2-A:10-B:C basis-of-design model. Halotron I is one agent, made by American Pacific and filled by several extinguisher manufacturers, so checking an equal against the named model means comparing UL rating, agent capacity, and construction. The manufacturer datasheet (PDF) has the full spec table for submittals. Our UL 2129 page explains the agent designations spec writers use, including why HCFC Blend B means Halotron I, and the extinguisher guide for sensitive electronics covers sizing for server rooms. For project quantities, request a bulk quote. We handle substitution paperwork, work from spec snippets when the full document is under NDA, and can stage deliveries to the job site.
