The Everkem Fire Rated Intumescent Putty Pad is a 7" x 7" x 1/8" thick non-curing intumescent fire barrier designed for gypsum fire-rated wall systems. Everkem Diversified Products manufactures this repositionable putty pad to provide 1 and 2 hour fire protection while maintaining a 60 STC sound rating. The pad meets ASTM envelope standards including ASTM-E84 and ASTM-E90 specifications.

This UL Classified firestop pad features long shelf life storage and an identifiable color for easy field recognition. The non-curing formula allows contractors to reposition the pad during installation without losing effectiveness. The product carries EcoSeal environmental certification and Made in USA manufacturing. Installation requires no special tools or curing time, making it ideal for electrical outlet boxes, switch boxes, and other penetrations in fire-rated assemblies.

The putty pads work in both new construction and retrofit applications where maintaining fire ratings and sound control is critical. Contractors use these pads in office buildings, hospitals, schools, and multi-family housing projects to seal around electrical devices while preserving wall assembly performance ratings. Our putty pads for electrical boxes guide covers when the IBC requires them, the box-size and spacing rules, and how many pads to order per job.

Where this putty pad gets used

  • Outlet, switch, and junction boxes — back-coats steel or PVC boxes in fire-rated gypsum walls (UL 1- and 2-hour designs)
  • Side-by-side boxes on opposite faces of a party wall — restores STC 60 sound rating after the box cuts the assembly
  • Data, communication, and low-voltage boxes in shared corridors, demising walls, and shaft walls
  • Multi-family, hotel, dorm, hospital, and school tenant improvement work — anywhere IBC Section 714 or NFPA 101 requires the wall rating preserved at penetrations
  • Expansion-activated — moldable putty stays flexible until 220°F, then expands to seal the cavity in a fire event
  • No tools, no cure time, cut & peel — peel, mold around the box, press. One 7×7 pad covers a standard single-gang box
