Buckeye 20 lb CO2 Fire Extinguisher

Carbon dioxide is a clean extinguishing agent that leaves no residue and conducts no electricity. It smothers Class B flammable-liquid and energized Class C electrical fires by displacing oxygen and cooling the surface, with nothing to wipe off equipment afterward. Buckeye makes this 20 lb CO2 unit rated 10-B:C with a 20-second discharge and a 4 to 8 foot effective range, the largest portable CO2 in the line.

Buckeye lists this unit for chemical and manufacturing plants, oil rigs, rail yards, warehouses, construction sites, parking garages, boat docks, and large laboratories, plus the server rooms, switchgear, and electrical rooms where a residue-free agent matters. Carbon dioxide has an Ozone Depletion Potential of 0 and a Global Warming Potential of 1, and it dissipates into the atmosphere after discharge with nothing to wipe off boards or precision equipment. Equipment room protection under NFPA 75 specifically calls out clean agents over water or dry chemical, and portable units work alongside fixed clean-agent systems governed by NFPA 2001.

Sizing note: the 20 lb carries the same 10-B:C rating as the 10 lb and 15 lb. The additional agent does not raise Buckeye's published UL rating for this model; it mainly extends discharge time to 20 seconds, not reach, which stays at 4 to 8 feet across all sizes. The short range and rapid CO2 dispersion are what limit the rated test-fire area. CO2 also leaves no lingering suppression, so fuel held above its autoignition temperature can reflash, and a full discharge in a confined space can displace enough oxygen to endanger occupants. Built on a polyester epoxy powder coated aluminum cylinder with a rugged plated brass valve and a stainless steel handle and lever. Manufactured to ANSI/UL 154 and ANSI/UL 711; USDOT cylinders are tested to 3000 psi. US Coast Guard approved for Type B:C Size II only when ordered with the Model 811 mounting bracket (P/N 700229). Operating temperature range -22°F to +120°F.
