An exit device is the push bar on the inside of a door. This is the trim, the hardware on the outside face of that same door. It mounts through the door and works the device's latch, so it is what decides whether anyone can get back in.
What this one does
Outside lever always active. The lever always works, so anyone can enter. Use where the opening is not access controlled.
Detex uses the BHMA function descriptions, and prints this one as: Entrance by trim when latch bolt is released by knob or lever. Always active, no cylinder.

Fitting it
Detex designs the trim and the device mounting plate so the function can be changed by swapping the outside trim alone, without taking the exit device off the door. Confirm the device series and the door's handing before ordering.
