The Detex EAX-300W prevents doors from being propped open in outdoor applications where weather exposure is a concern. This battery-powered alarm mounts on exterior doors, gates, and other openings that must remain closed for security, energy efficiency, or means of egress reasons. The unit sounds a 100dB alarm when the door is held open beyond the programmed delay time.

Field-selectable door open times range from 1 second to 4 minutes with a 15-second factory default. Detex certifies the weatherized electronics to a driving rain and salt fog test, and specifies the unit for gates and doors exposed to inclement weather. Internal magnetic contacts eliminate external wiring. The intelligent circuit automatically detects door handing during installation using the included plastic template for accurate alignment.

Battery operation eliminates AC wiring requirements. The 9VDC power source includes low battery alert functionality. The alarm automatically silences when the door closes, reducing nuisance service calls. That keeps an exterior door from standing open without anyone knowing.
