The V40628EBCD36 is a 3-foot rim exit device that mounts to the door surface for emergency egress on assembly, educational, and hazardous occupancies where IBC panic hardware requirements mandate immediate exit capability. This Detex V40 Series device combines Grade 1 panic hardware performance with electric alarm functionality and cylinder dogging for authorized entry control. The stainless steel deadlocking latchbolt withstands over 1400 pounds of static pull force while the aluminum rail construction provides durability at an economical price point.

Installation time drops significantly with the patented mounting plate and strike locator system that eliminates paper templates and reduces door prep work. The modular design accepts various outside trims and functions, and the non-handed, field-sizeable construction fits most single doors and most double doors with a mullion. On a pair of doors, a rim device latches into the frame stop, so the opening needs a mullion between the leaves. Without one, a rim device on each leaf has nothing to latch into. Confirm the opening before ordering. The angled endcap deflects impact damage away from the operating mechanism.

Detex lists the V40 to UL 305 as panic hardware and certifies it to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1. Detex's fire-rated exit devices are a separate model line (FV40, FV50) that we do not stock, so do not specify this device for a labeled fire door assembly.
