This rim exit device provides life-safety egress for commercial and institutional doors where occupants need reliable panic hardware activation. The Detex V40 Series device mounts to the interior face of a single door, or of double doors with a mullion, with minimal prep work. On a pair of doors, a rim device latches into the frame stop, so the opening needs a mullion between the leaves. Without one, a rim device on each leaf has nothing to latch into. Confirm the opening before ordering. It is the configuration specified on assembly and educational occupancies where panic hardware is called for, and the deadlocking latchbolt carries the loss-prevention side.
The stainless steel Pullman-type latchbolt deadlocks automatically and withstands over 1400 pounds of static pull force. The heavy-duty ribbed aluminum rail features non-handed, field-sizeable design that fits standard door widths. The patented mounting plate system eliminates paper templates and speeds installation on any door type.
